We have a small molecular genetics laboratory in Bern, in which we can do everything we need to do for Sanger sequencing, to prepare microsatellites and for RAD library preparation (i.e. next-generation sequencing). We extract DNA using various methods, run PCRs and gels.
The sequencing itself is done either at our other lab at Eawag, Kastanienbaum, or at sequencing centers such as the Genomic Technologies Facility of the University Lausanne, or the Next Generation Sequencing Platform of the Universities of Bern and Fribourg. We also have access to the genetics and bioinformatics suport center Genomic Diversity Center, ETHZ, using their servers for bioinformatics analysis and their support.
